This is a Stainless Steel Corvair sending unit mounted to a Vega-type in-tank electric fuel pump.  We take great care in manufacturing these units and have the following features:

  • Premium Turbine type Fuel Pump
  • Nylon convoluted fuel hose (units produced before 1 Aug 24 have R10 rubber hose)
  • Viton seals used on Power Stud
  • PTFE fuel-safe electrical wire
  • New Filter Included
  • New Seal and Ring Included
  • All electrical connections are crimped and soldered
  • A 1/4″ male is provided for a slip-on terminal
  • rated at 3-6 psi

YOU MUST USE A FUSE BETWEEN THE PUMP CONNECTION AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY!!!

We offer EM (61-64), Late (65-69), and FC Models.

Why an Internal Pump? They are hidden and highly dependable and these are the pumps specified for the 1971 – 1977 Chevy Vega. External pumps can be noisy and can usually be overheard at idle and emulate a mechanical pump “The Clunk-Clunk noise”.  The internal pump uses a turbine and does not create large pulses of fuel as solenoid-type pumps but may produce a light “whine” that some may find noisy.   Mechanical fuel pumps that don’t leak or fail are becoming hard to find and we think this is a good, long-term solution.

You should check the gauge calibration and operation of the sending unit against your gauge before installation.  We test every sending unit for the proper Ohms before modification.  MOST GAUGE FAILURES are ground-related… so check your ground while testing and installing.  You must specify early or late as they have different gauge Ohms.

This pump assembly will work on any Carburated Corvair.  We recommend using the Revolution Fuel Pump Safety Switch https://www.revolutionelectronics.com/Products/Fuel Pump.html  This will ensure that your fuel pump stops pumping in case of a wreck or engine stall.  We also have a wiring schematic from one of our customers that shows how to wire to a Corvair.    You may also add a pressure regulator according to your needs..most Carbs do not.

We lubricate and test-run each pump before it leaves our shop as part of the quality control process.  DO NOT RUN THE PUMP DRY.  The rubber hose between the unit and pump is a special submersible hose that is not as flexible as most hoses and will break the plastic end of the pump if it is over-flexed and not covered under warranty.  Do not tighten the electrical connection as the brass screws with lock washers will break off and are also not covered under warranty.  Units produced after 1 Aug 2024 use a nylon convoluted tube instead of the flexible R10 submersible hose as it has better long-term protection against ethanol-based fuels.

We offer pumps for EM, Late, and FC models.

This is a wiring diagram sent in by one of our Corviar guys and it has protections in case of a stall that will shut down the pump.  This wiring diagram is only a suggestion and not required.  You are highly encouraged to use a fuse and some system to shut down the electric pump (during an accident/).
