Performance, Economy, and Durability:
The 2-throttle body Injection system can be used on ALL Corvairs except the turbo version. The Carburetors are replaced with Brown EFI Throttle body injection units (TBIU). These TBIUs are Corvair Carbs that have been cleaned, new throttle shafts installed, and the venturei is removed for higher airflow. These kits use your existing Corvair throttle linkage and distributor, easily modified for a trouble-free, adjustable computer-controlled ignition system. Each Corvair engine type will have its tune and we plan to constantly update the tune with the community of EFI tuners. User modification of engine tune can be accomplished with a laptop for those wanting different performance parameters than those originally designed. We use one (1) high-pressure injector per TBIU which highly atomizes the fuel spray, even at low engine speeds. The TBIUs are the same height as factory carbs to allow for air cleaner clearance and maintain optimum injector angle. The FC/Early models will need a modification to allow for the air cleaner to hold down springs if desired. The electronic idle control system (ICS) advances the idle when the engine is cold, or as needed on engines equipped with an Automatic transmission. We program the ECMs for the middle-of-the-road engine setups, so some engine combinations will require user adjustment with a laptop. The ECM Supports the use of single and dual Wideband O2 sensors (purchased separately) for advanced tuning and precise fuel control.
Ignition: The standard kit has the Crank Wheel trigger system and a VAG High-Energy Ignition Coil. This configuration is simple and provides more than enough spark for Corvair engines even with extreme setups. Using this type of setup, you can create custom ignition curves and factor in things like temp. We also offer an optional GM LS ignition module that uses your standard coil. we recommend the “Flame Thrower 40011 40k” coil.
Fuel System: The engine bay fuel lines are included with the kit and provided from the rear of the engine (firewall). The Dual TBI kit includes a Fuel pressure regulator, fuel lines with fittings to both injectors, a fuel gauge test port adapter, and a fuel pulse dampener installed between the engine and body fuel line. The fuel line test port adapter plug can be removed and a permanent fuel line pressure gauge can be installed. The fuel pulse damper along with the fuel gauge will help eliminate pulse pulses inside the lines that can cause uneven fueling.
O2 Sensor: You will need to purchase the WBO2 controller and sensor of your choice. The Wiring harness is prewired for dual WBO2 sensors (Dual TBI only).
The kit includes all items from the fuel pressure regulator to the engine. The fuel pump is NOT included in the kit but is available at an additional cost.
