Performance, Economy, and Durability:
No engine deserves the EFI more than the turbo engine. The carburetors worked reasonably well 50 years ago, but most are not rebuildable or missing/bent/modified parts from prior repairs.
TPA CORE: We will need your Throttle Plate Assembly-TPA (show in grey below) so it can be assembled to the injector throttle body. We mount the TBI and the throttle plate assembly, install and adjust the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and the linkage to the TPS. Could you do it yourself if we send the parts?…maybe, but we wanted to ship a simple and easy to install EFI kit for the throttle. You will get the same TPA that you send us back with your kit.

DISTRIBUTOR CORE: We will need a distributor core, but it does NOT need to be a Turbo Distributor. The distributor will be welded and locked out and timing will be controlled by the ECM, so you get immediate timing changes not depending on a 50 year old weight and vacuum system. You will NOT get the same distributor back unless you specify, but may delay your kit.
Simple Design: Our new design is completely reversible and uses staged injection for good starting, idle, and excellent boost. The carb and studs are removed as they are replaced with studs from the kit. The throttle butterfly valve is also removed and the spacer is installed between the Turbo housing and the EFI throttle body. Since the location of the throttle plate has changed from its original location and new linkage arm will need to be installed and is included in the kit. The EFI throttle body has the TPS and the secondary injector all mounted to the throttle body and is straightforward to install. Your distributor is locked out and reworked for ECM control. A high-pressure fuel pump will need to be installed and our in-tank high pressure/sending unit .
Carbon Fiber Throttle Body: The TBI is a Printed Carbon Fiber and is the same design as our aluminum Turbo throttle body. It is a very clean, solid filled Carbon Fiber body and offers heat protection up to 440 degrees f.

Throttle Linkage: The throttle linkage on the turbo crossover tube will need to be modified for proper alignment with the new throttle body. The rod linkage arm will need to be removed and a replacement linkage arm and collar installed. The existing linkage arm can be easily removed using a torch as it is held by silver solder.

Ignition: The other less efficient part of the factory turbo is the distributor. The advance/retard worked reasonably well when they were new, but are dependent on springs and weights that wear over time. The electronic distributor uses a 15×12 table to control the timing and adjusts the timing by temp to reduce the chance of pre-ignition. The standard kit has the Crank Wheel trigger system and a VAG High-Energy Ignition Coil. This configuration is simple and provides more than enough spark for Corvair engines even with extreme setups.
Engine Temp: The engine temp sensor is installed into the head near the #3 spark plug and is not designed to give a perfect temp, but provide temps that the ECU will understand. If the Engine temp sensor fails or is unplugged, it will read 180 degrees (fully warm engine) to prevent over-fueling.

Fuel System: The Turbo kit includes a Fuel pressure regulator, fuel lines with fittings to both injectors. A fuel pulse dampener installed between the engine and body fuel line that will help minimize fuel line pulses that can cause uneven fueling. You will also need a high-pressure fuel pump and the in-tank pump is recommended for simplicity and dependability.
O2 Sensor: We will provide a Spartan 3 Lite V2 WBO2 controller and Bosch WBO2 Sensor. You will have the O2 bung welded in the exhaust as shown. The Wiring harness is prewired for the WBO2 sensor.
Idle Control: An Idle Control System is included in the system to open the throttle slightly during cold starts and hold it until the engine is warm. It will also open the throttle for 5 seconds when the switch is turned on to aid in quick starts and will return to no advance if the engine is warm/normal operating temp. High idle fine adjustment is accomplished by turning the adjuster attached to the
Programmable: The ECM will be programmed with a base which will start and run the engine. Fine turning will need to be accomplished by the installer and we can help with after installation “tweeking”. You will need to install TunerStudio MS on a Laptop and we recommend purchasing the Autotune portion of the program.

The kit includes all items from the fuel pressure regulator to the engine. The fuel pump is NOT included in the kit but is available at an additional cost.
